Art, Music, and Media - Creative Lesson Add-ons to enrich every classroom.
There’s a great chance you have artists in your classroom! Together, we will create opportunities for them to use technology (along with art and music!) to share their learning and respond to your assignments. You will leave this session with some electronic exit ticket strategies using Google tools such as slides, and drawings. You’ll find out about free Chrome apps that can enhance your instruction. You’ll discover extensions that can help you bring student voice into your classroom in new ways! Of course, throughout our time together, we will work with plenty of web-based art and music creation tools.

Audience and Purpose for All
Participants in this workshop will be part of a hands-on workshop in which they build a simple Blogger website. But don't be fooled, the focus is really on understanding how to make your student or classroom blogs a raging success! The secret lies in teaching students how to leverage the concepts of audience and purpose. Students across the globe are blogging with each other, learning from each other, and just itching to write for a real audience, with a real purpose. Their writing is amazing, and they can't wait to revise their work. If you'd like to have these problems in your classroom, this is the PD for you. Participants will leave with a working understanding of Blogger. Participants will leave with incredible blogs and websites ready to go for class the next day. Participants will be ready to help their students share their work outside the walls of their classrooms and schools.

Narrative and Creative Writing with Google Slides

Let's look beyond the slideshow! Google Presentations can be used for so much more than bulleted talking points. In this session, we'll see how Google Slides can be used to support and develop creative writers.

From comic books to graphic novels, mock Tweets and Instagram posts, to "choose your own adventure" stories - you’ll explore some of the innovative and creative ways your students can use Google tools to demonstrate their learning.

In this workshop, we will:

*Create REALLY FUN STUFF!
* Discuss Google Slides as a tool in the writing process.
* Share ideas how the use of mentor texts can enhance students understanding of literary elements such as narrative shifts and dialogue.
* Share options for digital student/teacher/peer feedback.
* Explore design principles of color and layout.
* Find free image resources that promote digitally-aware citizens.
* Investigate publishing possibilities including slides as an e-pub tool as well as inexpensive printing options.
